Dan began his investment industry career in 1996 and joined Stifel in 2009. Prior to entering the financial services industry, he served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps and later in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring in 2007 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dan’s professional background also includes experience supporting individuals, families, and small businesses with retirement planning and income‑oriented investment strategies. Over the course of his career, he has helped establish numerous SIMPLE IRAs and 401(k) plans for small businesses.
Dan focuses on helping individuals, families, and small businesses develop retirement planning and investment strategies tailored to their financial goals. His approach emphasizes long‑term planning, disciplined portfolio structure, and income‑oriented investment strategies designed to support clients throughout retirement.
Dan earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Iowa State University and holds Series 7, 9 & 10, 63, and 65 securities licenses. He has also earned life, health, and variable insurance licenses (including long-term care and annuities), along with the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™ designation.
Dan resides in Ames, Iowa, with his wife, Amy, and their two children, Julia and William. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Ames and is also involved with La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international gastronomic society, where he serves as the Bailli (chapter head) of the Des Moines, Iowa, Bailliage. In this role, Dan assists with wine pairings for multi‑course events ranging from approximately 50 to 200 attendees. This activity is social and hospitality‑focused and not related to the wine industry or any outside business enterprise.
Mitch began his career in the industrial automation industry before pivoting to become a Financial Advisor with Piper Jaffray in 1997, after earning a B.S. in Business Administration – Finance from the University of Louisville. He also earned Series 7, 9 & 10, 63, and 65 securities licenses in addition to the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™ designation. Following UBS Financial Services’ acquisition of Piper Jaffray’s private client branch network in 2006, Mitch transitioned to Stifel in 2009 upon its acquisition of his wealth management office.
Mitch believes it is his responsibility to make his clients’ interests a top priority. He prioritizes trust, equality, and transparency, and works to make sure his guidance is aligned with his clients’ long-term goals.
Outside the office, Mitch is an avid fan of Iowa State athletics and enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, supporting wildlife habitat, and spending time on the lake with his family. He is a member of the Ames chamber of commerce, Pheasants Forever, and Ducks Unlimited. Mitch is also a former district chairman of the Boy Scouts of America.
Jake began his investment industry career in 2005 and joined Stifel in 2026. He previously served as a Financial Advisor at Piper Jaffray (2005-2006) and UBS Financial Services (2006-2007), spending the bulk of his career at TIAA (2007-2026).
Jake takes a holistic, client-specific approach to investments. He specializes in helping clients manage their wealth by providing insights around investment strategies, income and tax coordination, incapacity planning, and offers guidance on sophisticated estate planning strategies.
Jake earned a B.B.A. in Management from Iowa State University and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses. In addition, he holds life, long‑term care, and variable insurance licenses (including annuities).
Away from work, Jake enjoys watching football and basketball, wake surfing, live music, snowmobiling, classic cars, and boating. He also does a good deal of volunteer work and is currently the vice president of Trinity Lutheran Church and School and a board member for Trinity Endowment and Trust Funds. Jake and his wife, Amy, reside in Boone, Iowa. They have two adult sons, Jackson and Joe.

Karla began her financial services career at Piper Jaffray in 1996 and transitioned to UBS Financial Services in 2006 through its acquisition of 90 wealth management offices, later joining Stifel in 2009 through its acquisition of UBS Wealth Management Americas. Karla spent the first eight years of her career in the banking industry. She earned a B.A. in English from the University of Northern Iowa in 1988 and also holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses.
Outside the office, Karla enjoys attending Iowa State University sporting events, reading, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, and long walks with her dog, Bodie.
